English abstract
The aim of this study is to identify the level of psychological and social compatibility
and mental health to reveal the relationship between the two among the educational
pensioners in Al Dakhiliyah governorate, Sultanate of Oman.
The study sample consisted of 208 retired educators (126 males and 90 females). To
achieve the purposes of the study, the researcher applied the mental health scale and the
psychological and social compatibility scale after ascertaining the characteristics of their
sincerity and persistence. The results showed that:
1. both the level of mental health, psychological and social compatibility were high.
2. a positive correlation between the psychological and social compatibility of pensioners
and their mental health, which affected all dimensions.
3. there were no statistically significant differences in the mental health of retirees due to
the gender.
4. there were statistically significant differences in the level of psychosocial compatibility
due to gender in the favour of females.
5. there were statistically significant differences in the dimensions of personal and
emotional compatibility due to gender variable in the favour of females.
6. there were no statistically significant differences in the social compatibility due to gender.
The study concluded a set of recommendations and proposals for other studies in the
educational field.
