English abstract
This research aims to study fear psychological depression levels of elderly in Muscat region. It aims also to reveal the psychological relationship between elderly fear levels and depression and define the impact of several variables like: type and social status) on depression levels.
The study sample is formed of 206 persons(103 males and 103 females). The sample have been randomly selected of elderly living with their families in Muscat. The study depended on two measures: the first is fear measure to detect the fears level. The second measure is depression which detect Depression levels with the sample tested.
The study tools were tested by validity and Reliability procedures. The results have shown moderate levels of fear and a low level of depression among elderly in Muscat region. There is a positive direct relationship between fear variable and depression among the sample members. Regarding the linear deviation equation, it has statically significant differences of(0.01) which means it is high. The results show also that there are no statically significant differences in the fear levels which are referred to gender variables and it shows statically significant differences which are referred to social status in the death fear levels in
favor of the bachelors. There are no statically significant differences on depression levels concerning the gender and the social status variables.
