English abstract
The study aimed to reveal the level of the relationship between electronic addiction and psychological loneliness among students of the Institutes of Islamic Sciences in the Governorates of Muscat and South Al Sharqiyah in the Sultanate of Oman. The descriptive correlational approach was used, as the study sample consisted of (222) students from the Institutes of Islamic Sciences in the Sultanate of Oman, who were selected using the simple available method. The study relied on the Ali Electronic Addiction Scale (2021), which consists of (45) paragraphs distributed over six dimensions, and the Abdul Nabi Psychological Loneliness Scale (2021), which consists of (20 paragraphs). The results indicated that the level of electronic addiction among the study sample came with an estimate of (high) on the electronic addiction scale adopted in the study, and the level of psychological loneliness came with an estimate of (low) on the psychological loneliness scale adopted in the study. The results also indicated that there were statistically significant differences in the level of electronic addiction for the educational stage between eleventh and twelfth grade students in favor of the eleventh, and there were no statistically significant differences in the level of psychological loneliness among the study sample. The results of the study showed that electronic addiction contributes 11% to the level of psychological loneliness.
