English abstract
The Applied Linguistic Studies concerned with monitoring the phenomenon of Idiom, especially in the heritage books are necessary to contribute to the preparation of what the library needs of the Arabic language dictionary includes the most common idioms in Arabic.
The required nature of the study to be divided this study to an introductory, and three chapters, the introductory includes the provision of general features and basic information of Idiom in the light of modern theory of General Linguistics, ends the definition of specific accepted by the study of Idiom and the foundations that we will in the study of idiom in "Jamhart Al-lugha" by Ibn Duraid. The chapters are as follows:
Chapter I: Idiom in "Jamhart Al-lugha'"and included the following: Positions and methods of use.

Chapter Two: Structural level of Idiom, and included the following address:
Types of structure in the Idiom.
Chapter Three: The semantic content of Idiom in "Jamhart Al- lugha", and included the following:
Dealing with the phrase as a semantic compound unit.
Idiom metaphorical phrase and its stability.
Meaning and concept / conceptual idiom.
Meanings to the words that come out of Idiom.
The researcher scanned idioms in "Jamhart Al-lugha", He has striven to view the properties of idiom in the Arabic language in general, and in "Jamhart Al-lugha", in particular, his belief in the importance of this subject, and provide modest aid to the great efforts being made to write the history of the Arabic and its dictionary of history, and monitoring of its historical development.
The researcher at the conclusion explained the main results of the research and study the theory and practice.
