English abstract
The Discourse of Omani Poetry Criticism is a new topic in academic research. This Thesis intends to explore the features of discourse of poetry criticism in Sultanate of Oman spanning from 1974 to 2009. Statistical methodology was used in order to elucidate the purport of the criticism, especially its objective criteria and thematic concerns. This was achieved through establishing a comprehensive database of Omani Poetry Criticism studies by surveying all available resources for studies conducted over the mentioned period. Then analytical method was used to analyze collected results.
Thesis is divided into two parts; first one entitled: "Omani Poetry Criticism: beginnings and developments". Three basic concepts were introduced by the researcher: Continuity, Independence, and Concernment. Beginnings and developments of Omani Poetry Criticism Discourse until 2009 were analyzed and explored through these three concepts. The second part is "The Streams of Omani Poetry Criticism". Analysis uncovered three main streams: journalistic, academic and general stream.
Thesis concludes with several findings regarding beginnings of Omani Poetry Criticism and its flourishing and declining periods. It also gives a deep analysis about the nature of its streams.
