English abstract
This study is aimed to identify the degree of practice of senior teachers of social studies to participatory supervision and preventive supervision in Governorate of Al-Dhahira and AL-Dakhiliyah from the view of teachers of this subject.
The researcher prepared a scale of participatory supervision that includes 31 phrases and was divided in to the following fields: professional development, planning, relationship and participation, calendar or estimating, and a scale of preventive supervisions which included (41) phrases and is divided into the following fields: supervisory class visits, class assessment, class activities, class planning and class management.
The researcher depends on the descriptive method, after verifying the validity and stability of the scale. A sample of the study was applied on 238 teachers male and female from Governorate of AL-Dhahira and AL-Dakhiliyah in the sultanate of Oman.
The results revealed that there is a presence of differences of statistic function in the degree of practice of senior teachers of social studies for participatory supervision and preventive supervision in grand total to interest of female according gender variable, and to interest of teachers of history according to the specialization variable. There were differences in grand total for a variable of province in participatory supervision for interest of AL- Dakhiliyah Province, while that the preventive supervision to interest of AL- Dhahira Province and the results revealed that there were presence of differences of statistic function in grand total according to the variable of experiences in participatory supervision, and also preventive supervision and all of these directorate or trending to less experience, and the study presents a group of recommendations from these executive exchange visits for senior teachers in Educational Directorate for exchange of supervisory experiences and especially in the field of participatory supervision and preventive supervision, and reduction of administrative burdens that assigned to the senior teachers for social studies, so they can perform their participatory and technical tasks in regarding to supervision on teachers of social studies with high efficiency and effectiveness.
