English abstract
The study aimed to identify perceived social support and its relationship to the level of mental health of divorced women in North Al Batinah Governorate in the Sultanate of Oman. The researcher adopted the descriptive approach, and the social support scale and the mental health scale were applied after verifying their validity and reliability, on a sample of (94) divorced women in North Al Batinah Governorate in the Sultanate of Oman. The results showed that social support was at an average level. The dimensions of social support were arranged in descending order as follows: (social support provided by the family, social support provided by the community, social support provided by friends). The results also indicated that the level of mental health in the study sample was high. The dimensions of mental health were arranged in descending order as follows: (social dimension, psychological dimension, physical dimension). The results revealed statistically significant differences in the degree of social support according to the variable of the divorced woman's age in favor of the category (20-30) years. The results also showed that there were no statistically significant differences in the degree of social support according to the variable of the number of children. The results revealed that there were no statistically significant differences in the level of mental health according to the variable of the divorced woman's age, while the results showed differences in the social dimension of mental health attributed to the number of children in favor of divorced mothers. The results also revealed that social support contributes to the achievement of mental health.
