English abstract
This study aimed to identify the options available to counter the rising rates of breast cancer. One of the most important findings of the study is that about 1.7 million new cases of breast cancer were diagnosed in 2012; this represents more than a quarter of all cancer cases diagnosed in women, and breast cancer is the most common type of cancer. Although the current infection rate in Oman is approaching the minimum in the GCC countries, the increase in the infection rate and the total number of cases is worrisome, and the reason for the increase is still unclear. One of the most important recommendations of the study is that breast cancer, like many cancers, can be treated by applying effective strategies for treatment, recovery, early detection and Prevention.
