English abstract
This study sought to learn about developments in the estimation of glomerular filtration rate. One of the most striking findings of the study is that the glomerular filtration rate does not diagnose any disease but serves as a test of how well your kidneys are working. The equation proposed in 2009 (CKD-EPI) improves the estimate and is a recognized equation with the MDRD formula. This equation was developed in a combined dataset of 10 studies involving participants of various clinical characteristics with and without kidney disease, and was validated in a separate dataset compiled from 16 separate studies. One of the most prominent recommendations of the study is that research should be directed towards improving the measurement of glomerular filtration rate and evaluating new filtration therapies to estimate glomerular filtration rate. The new CKD-EPI formula improved bias and risk prediction without compromising accuracy in people with chronic kidney disease.
