English abstract
The Iron Age site of Salūt comprises a wide residential area surrounding an impressive, fortified site likely
destined for communal/ceremonial activities. While between 2004-2015 investigations focused on the fortified
area known as Husn Salūt, from late-2015 to mid-2019 the excavations targeted the wider settlement –
distinguished as Qaryat Salūt. The overall dimension and monumental aspect of some of the buildings in the
settlement are remarkable, as is the amount of collected archaeological material. This paper offers a concise
overview of results from the most recent excavations and presents some new absolute chronological data,
contributing to shape the image of one of the most important archaeological sites in the region.
