English abstract
This Study aimed to structure a scale for Vocational Interest Among students of the post basic education in the Sultanate of Oman. The sample of the study consisted of 926 students (462 male and 464 female), who were randomly selected from Muscat Region and Alshrqyah North region. The scale consisted of 60 paragraphs representing Holland's six environments (Realistic Investigation Artistic Social Enterprising Conventional), ten paragraphs for each environment. It was also taken in to consideration all the psychometric measures.
The validity of the scale was verified by using three methods: Face validity Concurrent validity and Factorial validity. The results indicated acceptable validity, whereas the reliability of the scale was assured by using Cronbach's Alpha and test re- test method. Cronbach's Alpha was found between(0.67 – 0.81). Also the reliability coefficient by using test and re-test method was found between (0.70 - 0.84). Finally, the norms for the sample of the study were derived by using percentile ranks.
The approach that was followed in this study was a descriptive one using appropriate statistical methods to answer the research's question like cronbach's Alpha factor, Person correlation coefficient, Exploratory factor analysis, t- test and percentile ranks. The results were discussed in the light of the theoretical frame and the previous studies. Also number of the recommendations and suggestion have been shown.
