English abstract
The study aimed to specify Figh (Jurisprudence) concepts included in Figh books for Secondary Schools at Islamic Sciences Institutes to know how far students have acquired these concepts. The study addresses the following questions:
What are the Fiqh Concepts included in the syllabus of Secondary schools in Islamic Sciences Institutes? To What extent do third Secondary students acquire these concepts? To answer the first question the researcher analyzed each lesson of the three identified Fiqh books to Fiqh concepts. The analysis was validated by a group of specialists in Islamic Science. To answer the second question the researcher prepared a multiple choice achievement test considering the relative weights of the questions according to each field of Fiqh separately. The test was validated by a group of referees from College of Education in Sultan Qaboos University and at Sultan Qaboos Islamic Cultural Center attached to Diwan of Royal Court. Reliability of the test was (0.77) using Alpha cronbach formula. The main findings of the study were: 1. Fiqh concepts are unbalanced. 2. Students' mean score in the field of Ebadat (Worship) was 68 (out of 100); 47 in the field of Ahwal Shakhsia (family law) 76 in the field of Mu'amalat (Transactions). Over all achievement was 64. The study recommended that the distribution of Fiqh concepts should be balanced. The content of the field of Ahwal Shakhsia should be re-organized to take into consideration students mental abilities.
