English abstract
The current study aimed at investigating the effectiveness of using virtual museum on teaching social studies in development grade eight students' achievement and attitudes towards Archaeology. The researcher used a quasi-experimental research and the study sample consisted of 60 female students. The sample was equally divided into one experimental and one control group (each consisted of (30) female students). The experimental group was taught by virtual museum while the control group was taught by the traditional method. The data was collected by administering a thirty question achievement test and a 43 attitudinal scale. The validity of these instruments was checked by a panel of judges and reliability was examined by using Alpha Cronbach which was (.712) for the test and (.891) for the scale.
The results showed significant differences at the level (a=0.05) between the means of the groups in favor to experimental groups in achievement test and attitudes towards archaeology and towards using museum in teaching. The researcher recommended using virtual museums in the filed due to its importance in providing supportive and encouraging learning environment.
