English abstract
The aim of this study is to develop the selection policy at the middle level management in the Mnistry of Sports Affair (MOSA) in Sultanate of Oma. The st udy used descriptive approach by collecting data of the academic study through a questionnaire that included (71) items divided into four dimensions,
The study's sample consists of 120 director-generals, heads of department s and heads of sections in the ministry's headquarter as well as its regional offices in 10 Governorates. The instrument stability was verified by counting stability fac tor (alpha cronbach)which was (0.98).
The result showed that the overall - study sample was 'intermediate' with mean of (3.47) and standard deviation( 0.64). The highest mean was the fourth ax is related to 'suggested methods to develop the selection policy at the middle leve 1 management in ministry , whereas the second axis' the personal standards that th e ministry concerns about their availability in the candidates who want to occupy the middle-level administrative jobs' came in the second mean. Moreover, the thi rd axis which is the method which the ministry relies on for the selection process at the middle level management' came in the third mean.' The administrative stan dards that the ministry is keen their availability in the candidates' came in the fou rth grade. The study also showed that the fact of the selection policy in the middl e level administration changes according to the study variables ( functional titleexperience- qualification) on p-value of(as 0.05).
The study recommends the followings:
1. To consider selection policies as an integrated system which includes integrati
on and correlation that can be affected by the functional activities.
2. To develop and updating the administrative standards and methods which the ministry relies on while selecting candidates based on the test procedures in th e middle level management in MOSA.
3.To necessary apply scientific and objective methods of selection based on the new test procedures and interviews.
4. To design and develop samples like job applications, interviews and the prom otions to differentiate between the candidates by assessing them to discover al 1 the dimensions of their personalities and what natural and acquired skills and features they have.
5. To adopt proposed mechanism to develop the policy of selecting in (MOSA)
