English abstract
The aim of this study was to investigate the status of information and communication technology in educational supervision from the perspective of supervisors of social studies in the Sultanate of Oman, The study population sample was consisted of (97) supervisors of all school districts in the Sultanate of Oman.
The researcher has developed a questionnaire for data collection which consists of (68) items distributed into four domains:
(1) The areas of employment of information and communication technology in the educational supervision,
(2) Supervisors' skills in the field of information and communication technology,
(3) Difficulties of information and communication technology in the educational supervision.
(4) views of social studies supervisors towards the applications of information and communication technology in the educational supervision.
The tool (questionnaire) was presented to a group of arbitrators to ensure the validity and stability. The stability (Cronbach alpha) was calculated to ensure stability. The stability has emerged high at (.845).
The study results indicated that the status of using information and communication technology in the educational supervision in the Sultanate of Oman is at high levels of employment, the supervisors of social studies have high skills in these areas, with the presence of trends of employment of information technology and communication supervisors of social studies believe of obstacles and high challenge of the process of recruitment of information and communication technology in the educational supervision. The results also indicate statistically significant differences between supervisors in results indicated communicating with teachers via the Internet and positive attitudes towards information and communication technology in favor of females compared with males. On the other hand, results did not reveal the existence of differences due to the variables of experience and qualifications.
The study recommended overcoming difficulties and obstacles that hinder the educational supervisors and limits their use of information and communication technology. This can be done by conducting specialized courses and programs for computer applications, Internet and related services for both teachers and supervisors such as websites designing and English language courses to overcome poor level of English among some supervisors. This could help and provide them with the ability to deal with the internet very easily and with various international websites and research
centers.
