English abstract
This study aimed to investigate the use, of modern technology in science laboratories at Post Basic schools, from the science teachers & laboratories technicians point of view in Sultanate of Oman. Also it aimed to Know the availability of this technology and the difficulties that facing science teacher's while using it.
The sample of the study consists of (37) of laboratories technicians& (227) science teachers in Post Basic schools in Muscat and South of Batinah Province. Benefiting from both literature Reviews and previous studies, two questionnaires have been prepared; The first was administered to science lab technicians. The second questionnaire was administrated to science teachers. The instruments had been tested for validity by a few of expert in the science and educational field, and reliability by cronbach's alpha factor analysis. The reliability degree was (0.996),& (0.899) respectively.
The result shows the limited availability of modern technology in Post Basic school. Add to that limited use of these technology by science teachers. Also, the result shows that there are some technical problems faced by science teachers. The most noticeable problems are related to administrational issues& problems related to students.
The study recommends the availability of the modern technology in Post Basic school labs in order to enable individuals or small groups of students to do their own experiments. Also, the effective use of these technology is necessary for better achievement & the importance of training science teachers to make the laboratories able of activating these technology. Finally, the researcher recommends other researches to investigate modern technology in science labs. For example training needs of science teachers in the use of modern technologies in science labs at Post Basic schools, or the impact of training program based on multimedia on the attitudes of teachers towards it and its reflection on their teaching methods.
