English abstract
The present study aimed to know the relationship between meaning in life and emotional equilibrium among eleventh grade students in the Governorate of Muscat in the Sultanate of Oman. The study followed the relational descriptive approach and the study sample consisted of (640) eleven graders with (329) male students and (311) female counterparts. All sample are located of schools in the Governorate of Muscat who were chosen by the random stratified sample method. The study used the meaning scale in life consisting of (46) items and the emotional balance scale which consist of (42) items as the study tool. The study indicates that there is meaning in life for the participants, a large emotional balance, and there are no statistically significant differences between the averages of the meaning dimensions in life due to the gender variable, the academic achievement among students, or the educational level of the parents. Whereas, there were statistically significant differences between the averages of the dimensions of emotional balance attributable to the gender variable in favor of females. In addition, there are statistically significant differences between the dimensions of emotional balance due to the variable of students' achievement level, as it was in the control dimension for the benefit of students with poor academic achievement. The dimension of flexibility and rigidity came in favor of students with excellent academic achievement. There was also a positive correlation between the degrees of the meaning in life scale and the emotional balance. At the end, the study was concluded by discussing the results and submitting proposals and recommendations.
