using Brainstorming strategy in teaching History on the development of the creative thinking in first secondary students in Sultanate of Oman. Done by: Mohd Talib Musallam Alkeumi Master degree in education in curriculum and instructions of teaching social studies. The purpose of the study was to find out the effect of using Brainstorming startegy in teaching History on the development of the creative thinking in first secondary students in Sultanate of Oman. In this study, the researcher used the quasi-experiment design. One hundred and tweleve students were chosen by the random-clusteral method to represent the study sample, the sample was divided into two groups: the experimental group and the control group. Each group consisted of 56 students. The two groups of students were set of the experimental for seven weeks. The experimental group was taought by using the brainstorming strategy while the control group was taught by using the traditional method. The content that was used in the teaching was units 2&3 of first secondary history book. The researcher has had prepared the unit plans in advance to be taught by using the brainstorming strategy. The researcher used Torrance Test for creative thinking by words figure (A&B) after measuring its validity and realiability on a pilot study. The figure A was used as pre-test to control the variable of ability on the creative thinking, and the figure B was used as post-test, The indepentent variables of the study were the brainstorming strategy and the traditional method. And the depentent variables of the study were three abilities for creative thinking. They were fluency, flexibility, originality and the ability of creative thinking which was atotal of the three previous abilities. Sex, nationality, school environment and creative thinking ability were considred as control variables that may effect the internal validity of the study. After the two units have been taught to the Students, Torrance Test figure B was applied on the study sample, then the results were analysied satistically by using t test. The study findings showed that the experimental group has excelled the control group in fluency, flexibility, originality and the entire creative thinking ability. furthmore the experimental group excelled in its post-perfomane in comaprison with its pre-perfomance in fluency, flexibility, originality and the entire creative thinking ability. And after discussing the study findings some of the recommendations and propsals were given in the light of what the study findings showed
