English abstract
The study aimed at the evaluation of the content of the training courses designed for the Arabic language teachers in cycle 1 in of the basic education, bearing in mind their necessary training needs and the ways to develop the content of the courses.
The following questions were set to accomplish the objectives of the study: 1- What are the necessary training needs of the Arabic language teachers in cycle 1 of the Basic Education schools? 2- How far did the topic of these courses satisfy in teachers necessary training needs? 3- How can the content of the training courses be developed?
To answer the first question , a questionnaire which covered : planning teaching methods classroom interaction, academic and career development and the assessment was answered by a group of teachers and inspectors who were selected randomly. 139 teachers and 52 inspectors responded to this questionnaire.
To answer the second question the researcher analysed the content of the training courses and programs using the content analysis list derived from the questionnaire.
To answer the third question the researcher reviewed the suitable technical and administrative procedure to reform the ways of implementing the content of the training course and programs.
Some of the conclusion, reached by the study are : 1- The samples of the study considered all the training needs, which the questionnaire included, very important for the teachers of the Arabic language in cycle 1 in he basic education schools 2- However the contents of the training courses concentrated mainly on teaching methods and classroom interaction rather than on the academic and professional development.
The researcher recommends that the training courses continue and that the teachers should be involved in planning these training courses. The study suggested the construction of a training program for the teachers of the first cycle of basic education to develop their basic language skills.
