English abstract
This study aimed to determine the characteristics and positive attributes of the exemplary Muslim identity that are crucial for all Islamic education teachers to pos- sess; male and female alike, and to assess the availability of these aspects in exist- ing Islamic education teachers from the viewpoint of senior teachers and years (11-12) students. To achieve the objectives of the study, the researcher adopted the descriptive approach, through a questionnaire consisting of (46) items distributed over four different areas; moral traits, physical traits, communicative traits, and traits concerning the profession. The sample of the study consisted of (547) male and female students from the grades (11-12), and (46) female and male teachers from the Governorate of Muscat. The data collected showed that Islamic education teachers possess the qualities of the exemplary Muslim personality to a big extent, where the average of the positive respondents from the students' sample reached (4.28) and (4.35) from the teachers' sample, as well as the existence of differences with statistical significance with the significance level (a < 0.05) between the senior teachers' answers and the students' as to what extent do the teachers represent the exemplary Muslim traits, largely due to the students. In addition to the existing differences with statistical significance at the significance level (0,05a) between the opinions of the senior teachers on what extent do the Islamic education teach-ers represent the exemplary Muslim traits, distributed.
between both sexes, but largely due to the females.
In light of these results, the researcherrecommends encouraging the Islamic education teachers to strengthen these traits, and to adhere to the ethics and morals of the Quran and the teachings of Al-Sunnah, especially when attending to students.
