English abstract
This study aimed to explore the predictive ability of the big five factors of personality for intrinsic and extrinsic motivation. The sample of this study consisted of 308 students (152 males and 156 females) of eleventh grade from south Al-Batinah governorate schools. The big five factor model of personality scale and the motivation scale were used to collect the date. Regression analyses indicated that conscientiousness and openness predict in intrinsic motivation, while student with "A" academic performance predict extrinsic motivation. However, there were no significant differences between males and females in all variables. Key words: Big five factors, intrinsic and extrinsic motivation.
