English abstract
Child Protection Line is one of the recent national projects to protect children from all forms of abuse discussed in the study. As the child protection line is an up-to-date service, it is necessary to raise awareness among people about it and its services.
Therefore, the study aims at identifying the role of the social work in schools in activating the use of the services of the child protection lines by identifying the awareness of the social workers, working in schools, about it, and the benefits of the lines in schools in Muscat Governorate. It also discusses the main obstacles that social workers may face in activating the child protection lines and services.
The study is based on a descriptive approach by using comprehensive social survey method using the questionnaire as a tool for all social workers in Muscat (159). It is also used for all child protection lines workers (17). Also 8 people from Education Directorate in the Ministry of Education are interviewed.
The researcher finds that there is high awareness among social workers working in schools about child protection lines. It also finds that the level of activating the lines is medium. Obstacles level that prevent social workers from activating the lines is high. In addition, the interviews show that there is a little interaction by the social workers in schools. The interviews conducted with experts from directorate of education point at the quality of child protection lines. Considering the previous findings, the researcher develops a proposal about the Role of School Social work in activating the benefit of child protection lines.
