This study approaches the efforts and guarantees adapted by the Omani Project of Juvenile Trafficking Prevention and Combating in the Sultanate. It also addresses the prevention and treatment methods followed in this project.
Human trafficking crime is considered a global phenomenon; especially juvenile and women trafficking. Therefore, the issue has received the attention of international organizations such as the United Nations.
Based on the above, the researcher highlighted in this study the prevention aspects of the juvenile worker in the labor law and the protection measures of the juvenile from labor exploitation which are imposed by the law on the employer. In addition, the researcher explored ways of juvenile trafficking that are prohibited in Omani laws and discussed the new exploitation methods recently used such as the internet and circumvention of the law.
Moreover, the researcher broached the mechanisms adapted by the Sultanate to treat the juvenile victims of trafficking. The first step represented in the procedural treatment through the Sultanate accession to the concerned international organizations in addition to the establishment of national committees to rehabilitate the victims. The second represented in legal treatment by imposing civil and penal protection for the victims such as the claim for compensation and heavier penalty for the criminals.
The study concluded that the protection of the juveniles for the risks of labor exploitation and trafficking would be best done through enacting a number of legalizations in labor law, children law and in human trafficking protection law, in addition to providing treatment and support and protecting their rights in case of trafficking. If there are some inconsistencies and gaps, the legislator should organize them. The researcher found some gaps in the laws that the legislator should reorganize them.
