English abstract
This research is intended to explore the development of cultural press in the Sultanate of Oman and the changes that have characterized the different stages of this development. Specifically, the research will focus on Nizwa cultural magazine as a case study by describing its development and analyzing its content (topics, genres and writers).
To achieve the abovementioned objective, the following research questions were put: (1) What are the stages of development of Nizwa magazine?, (TM) What is the nature of its topics (cultural, literary and artistic)?, M Is the journalistic and literary content balanced in the magazine?, (1) Does the magazine reflect a special emphasis on literary topics compared to other artistic and cultural topics?, and (o) What are the different journalistic genres in Nizwa magazine (essay, interview, news, ...)? To answer these questions, the researcher adopted the method of Descriptive Survey which depended on content analysis and unstructured interviews.
The main results of this research are the following:
(1) The content imbalance in Nizwa: the literary content dominates over cultural and artistic content.
(2) Plastic art dominates over other artistic forms in the artistic content of Nizwa: almost half of the artistic content belongs to plastic art.
(3) Nizwa pays special attention to philosophical, historical and archaeological issues. (4) Studies and essays dominate over other genres in Nizwa.
