English abstract
This study aimed to measure the impact of using the Advanced Grapher programme to help grade eleven students acquire the function concepts and in geometry anxiety. In order to check that, the researcher prepared a teacher manual for the functions unit accordingly to the Advanced Grapher Programme. He also prepared a test on acquiring functions and a scale to measure geometry anxiety and both were checked for validity and reliability on a piloting group.
The sample of the research is made of 46 students from grade 11 pure maths in one of the schools of Batinah South Region. The sample group was divided into two groups, an experimental group of 23 students which was taught the function unit using the Advanced Grapher programme and the other group, controlled 23 students was taught the unit usual traditional way.
The results of the study show significant difference at (a<0.05) between the mean scores of the experimental group and the controlled group in the function acquisition and the geometry anxiety scale post test for the experimental group.
In the light of these results, it is recommended to use the advantages of the possibilities of the Advanced Grapher Program in the teaching of mathematics. In addition, giving workshops for teachers of mathematics on the use of advanced drawing program to provide support for mathematics and teach them the importance of using it as a modern method of teaching students.
