English abstract
This dissertation aims at identifying the "Legal System for Vessel Towage According to the Omani Law" by highlighting the vessel towage in the domain of the maritime navigation within Omani local Ports and waters and international water. The study depends on the Omani Maritime Law for analytic comparisons with the Arab and Gulf Laws. Additionally, the stdudy provides answers for several inquiries such as the legal adaptation of the maritime towage and its impacts as well as the captains' responsibility for both tug and tugged vessels. In an attempt to answer the abovementioned inquiries, this study is divided into two chapters preceding by a preliminary chapter. This chapter includes the definition of maritime towage, its importance, its historical progress, its usage in supporting vessels to access and leave ports and the authorities responsible for the maritime towage in the Omani local waters. The first chapter discusses the legal nature of the maritime towage as well as the legal effects of the maritime towage contract. On the ather liand, the second chapter covers the responsibilities and cases caused by the maritime towage contract and its periods laches. The thesis includes a conclusion, the most important results and recommendations to organize the maritime towage contract in a view of the Omani Law and in a way that is compatible with the increase of maritime navigation in the Sultanate
