English abstract
The study aimed at measuring the level of career maturity and its relation to gender, academic achievement and place of residence among 1424 students (624 male, 800 female) in AL Batinah (North) Region in Sultanate of Oman.
The career maturity was measured using a questioner designed based on the Arabic version of Crite's Career Inventory developed by Jarwan in Jordan (1986). Acceptable reliability coefficients were obtained for the questioner.
To answer the questions of the study, means, standard deviations, t-teas, Pearson's coefficient and two way ANCOVA were used. The results indicated an average level of career maturity for the sample and a positive relation between academic achievement and career maturity. There were significant differences in career maturity attributed to gender in fever of female students, but no significant difference were found between rural and urban students.
The results were interpreted and discussed in the light of the theoretical frame and previous related studies. Also some recommendations and suggestions have been provided.
