English abstract
The purpose of this study is "to know the challenges and the obstacles that social researchers face during their Master degree level and this can be done by achieving the following goal; "discovering the personal, cultural and academic challenges that face social science MA students at Sultan Qaboos University". In addition, this study will suggest solutions that would help in overcome these obstacles. This study based on a theoretical framework of the issues that were suggested from the different resources of the social system by using descriptive way in analyzing the data. The study was applied from Feb 2016 to May 2016 on Master Holders from different specialization like; history, social science, social work and media at SQU. There were 81 researchers participated in the study and the questionnaire was the tool of collecting the data. The field study findings are: This study demonstrates that, the cultural obstacles are the biggest challenges that master students face compared with personal and academic challenges. 2- Academic and personal challenges have limited effect on scientific research. 3- The Researchers' skills are quite good but they need to organize their time and balance between their social responsibilities and the research. 4- The society traditions and believes are the main challenges of social science research. By the end of this study there are some suggestions and solutions to overcome the given challenges in order to form a scientific research that helps in the development of the society.
