English abstract
The study aimed at identifying the level of forgiveness and Psychological Well-being in the sample of the study, as well as the differences in forgiveness and psychological well-being due to the gender and colleage variable.
In order to achieve the objectives of the study, the sample was selected in the manner available from the study population. The sample consisted of (286) male and female students from Nizwa University, of whom (103) were male students and (183) female students. The researcher also used two measures, the first Hartland Scale for Forgiveness, divided into three sub-metrics by Mansour (2009), the other measure is the measure of the Psychological Well-being ,Dimensions of the preparation by Kharnoub (2016).
In this study, the researcher used several statistical methods: descriptive statistics, independent sample tests, ANOVA analysis of single-variance analysis, Pearson correlation coefficient, and multiple linear regression analysis.
The results of the study and its conclusion are:
The level of forgiveness was high for the study sample members in the forgiveness scale (and its sub-dimensions) except only forgiveness to the other , where the arithmetic average of forgiveness as a whole was (5.01).The level of psychological well-being was high for the sample of the psychological well-being index (and its sub-dimensions), where the mean of psychological well-being as a whole (5.32).
The results of the test showed that there were no statistically significant differences due to the gender variable in the forgiveness scale (and its sub dimensions) for the University students. The results showed statistically significant differences due to the gender variable in psychological well-being (and its sub-dimensions) in the four dimensions (Autonomy, environmental mastry , purpose in life and personal growth) for females. There were no statistically significant differences in ( self acceptance and positive relation with others) for University students. The results of the analysis of mono-variance showed that there are no statistically significant differences to the college variable in the following (forgiveness of self, forgiveness of others) for university students. There were statistically significant differences to the variable of the college in psychological well-being (and its sub-dimensions). There were no statistically significant differences in the (Autonomy).
Finally, the results of the multiple linear regression analysis showed an effect of tolerance (and its sub-dimensions) to predictors for psychological well-being.
