English abstract
This study aimed to identify the requirements of developing supervisory work in light of educational indicators' system in the Sultanate of Oman and identify the challenges that face the process of development and to propose suggestions that could help in developing the supervisory work.
To achieve the study aims, a questionnaire of 35 components was prepared; these components were divided into two main domains (first the requirements for developing supervisory work and second the challenges it faces). The study sample comprised of 169 educational leaders and supervisors who were trained to apply the educational indicators' system at the General Directorate of Human Resources Development at the Ministry of Education, the General Directorates in all Governorates and at the Educational Administration at Al-Wusta Governorate.
The study findings show a very high score for the importance of administrative and technical requirements to develop supervisory work in light of the educational indicators' system. The results also showed that was the sample's rating on the availability of administrative requirements were of a low score while a medium score was predicted for the challenges that may face the development process.
Based on these findings, the study proposed some suggestions that could contribute in the development of supervisory work in light of the educational indicators' system. Among these suggestions setting measuring standards and indicators for supervisory work as well as expanding the deployment of educational indicators culture among all who are working in the sector of education. The study also proposed a set of suggestions that could help in limiting the challenges that face the process of development of supervisory work, including addressing the shortcomings of the Internet and its related services. Finally, the study was concluded by suggesting a number of researches that could be carried out in the future.
