English abstract
This study deals with an important aspect of marital life, namely, it is the level of the awareness of marital compatibility of a sample of married people in Omani society. The study aims to identify the level of the awareness of marital compatibility of youth as they selecting the life partners, as well, the effect of: age, family size, and educational level on marital compatibility after marriage, It also aimed to identify the relationship between marital satisfaction among partners and the awareness of the compatibility aspects: educational, religious, social, psychological, health, cultural, economic, sexual aspects. Based on a descriptive approach, two methods were used to collect the data: case study and a questionnaire. The information was collected from (5) cases of marital incompatibility of the Conciliation and Reconciliation Commettee in Al Buraimi governorate. In addition, the questionnaires were applied to measure the awareness of the marital compatibility among a sample of beneficiaries of Family Counselling Dept. in Muscat Governorate and the Conciliation and Reconciliation Commettee in Al Buraimi Governorate. The most important results of the study were as follows: Couples' awareness about the importance of the religious, health, and economic aspects was high while they were choosing the partner of life, while the awareness of the cultural, social, psychological and sexual aspects were low. On the other hand, questionnaires' results showed that the social aspect of marital competability came as the most advanced levels of the awareness of competability. The awareness of customs and traditions of the partner came in the, while first placein the areas that have been prepared and rehabilitation, and also the quality of knowledge and skill came in all its words in the last ranks in terms of preparation and rehabilitation.
Moreover, results revealed that the most important information that couples should qualify before marriage was the religious aspect of marital competability, while the cultural aspect came in the last placein terms of importance according to the point of view of the sample. In addition, the study showed that the religious aspect and the parents selection of the marrage partner are the basis on partner selection, the guides, depending on the choice of partner. The aspects that were emphasized during the search for finding the partner were: the religious aspects which came first, followed by the health aspects in second place. From the point of view of the guides about the qualities that must be taken into account when selecting the life partner , the results of the study showed that the religious commitment came in the first place(86.8%), in which guides consider that the religious obligation characteristics to be considered in the search for the partner, Followed by the general health of the partner which came in second place (42.1%), while the awareness of the private married life came in the last place
