English abstract
This study aims to reveal the relationship between personality traits and social competence and the extent to which personality traits contribute in predicting the degree of social competence among a sample of 142 social workers in the Governorate of Muscat, the Sultanate of Oman. 96 Of them have been selected by means of the Available Sample Method.
In order to achieve the objectives of this study, the researcher has used the list of the Five Major Factors of Personality ( the NEO-Inventory-Revised FFI-S) which was translated by Al-Kalbania (2006) and implemented to the Omani environment, in order to measure the personality traits. The researcher has also used a scale of social competence, which he has created for the purpose of the study.
