This thesis describes the results of a survey investigating how well the factorsaffecting workers' productivity in the oil and gas sector in Oman are addressed. For thepurpose of this study, the factors have been classified into five groups: managementand organization, incentives and salary, career development and performanceappraisal, and health and safety. Data required for this study were collected from 207workers in the oil and gas sector in Oman.
A general conclusion that can be drawn from the findings of this study is that inPrivatecompanies, management and organization, career development andperformance appraisal, and health and safety factors are better addressed than that ingovernmental organizations. As a result, workers in governmental organizations aresignificantly less satisfied with their employers. This result might explain the reasonbehind the high worker turnover problemthat has been suffered by severalorganizations in this sector especially the governmental ones. The findings of thisstudy will be beneficial for organizations that are planning to enhance the productivityof their workers.
