English abstract
The aim of this study is to identify the counselling needs that the youth who are about to
get married need and to know the ways that satisfy those needs. It also aims to recognize the
difficulties that prevent that needs from being satisfied and what the role of "Tamasuk" is in
satisfying them. This current study is considered as a descriptive and evaluative study. It depends
on a social survey; this social survey was applied on 448 young people who are about to get
married in the sultanate of Oman , 60 young people who enrolled in Tamasuk program which was
presented by the Ministry of Social Development, and 11 specialists who participated in
implementing this program. This study depends on two tools; the first tool is the questionnaire that
was applied on those who are about to get married and other questionnaire was applied on young
people who enrolled in Tamasuk program. The second oneis the interview guide that was applied
on the specialists who participated in fulfilling Tamasuk program. So, this study has got many
results, some of which are;
1. Young people going to get married have a set of counselling needs associated as "very
strong". Its total relative strength is 85% which indicates the need to satisfy it. The
psychological requirements have the highest percentage with 89% followed by social
requirements with 86%, followed by cognitive, legal, lawful needs and the last is health needs.
2. The results revealed a number of ways which can satisfy the counselling needs for the youth
with a very high percentage of 90%. The supreme way is to use modern methods in serving the
marriage counselling and giving the youth more properties whenever they attend those course.
3. There are many difficulties that prevent the counselling needs from being satisfied. The first
difficulty is the lack of institutions that offer counselling services for those who are going to get
married and not getting the updates provided by the Ministry of Social
Development.
4. The results show that Tamasuk program is satisfying the counselling needs that the youth need
by differentiating the ways used to provide the content of the program to make sure that they
get the whole benefit.
