English abstract
This M. Sc. work strives the technologies needed to implement a secure e Government project and to develop an on-line prototype software model that can be used by Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The project will cater specifically for on-line Visa application process allowing users to apply for Visas online. The applicant will then receive his/her approval in electronic form. This work will also conduct review on wide area networks security concerns with respects to the present technological scenarios for small scale e-Government
implementation. The work will also suggest the countermeasures to be implemented in the practical project. This work also investigates how we can utilize the Internet to develop the we government services by implementing e-Government in Sultanate of Oman.
