English abstract
The study aims to investigate the effectiveness of career guidance program based on
career construction theory in developing career adaptability among nine grade students
in Al-Batina South Region in Oman. The Sample of the Study consisted of (120) female
and male students that was divided into two groups. The experimental group consisted of
(59) male and female students while the control group consisted of (61) male and female
students, the experimental group underwent career guidance program while the control
group underwent normal activities by the counseler. The study adopted the quasi experimental method, the researcher used Career Adapt-Ability Scale which developed
by Savickas and profeli )2012(, after translated it to Arabic form and verified its
psychometric properties. The scale consisted of (24) statements divided into four
dimensions: Concern, Control, Curiosity, Confidence. The Cronbach's alpha score of
career Adapt-Ability was (0,93). The results of the T-test showed differences with
statistical significance between the average responses of the members in the
experimental group and the control group on all Career Adapt-Ability Scale's
dimenstions in the post experiment implementation in favor of the experimental group,
while the results of the same test showed differences with statistical significance
between the average of the experimental group in pre and post implementation on all
Career Adapt-Ability Scale's dimenstions in favor of the post implementation. The
results of the Two Way ANOVA analysis showed no statistically significance
differences on the gender variable on Career Adapt-Ability Scale. The same results
showed that differences in performance with regard to the interaction effect between
gender and group had no statistically significance differences. Implications for future
research and recommendations were discussed.
