English abstract
The study aimed to identify the psychological and social adjustment levels for Motherless Students, as well as to identify the various dimensions of such phenomenon and the extent variances affected by the loss of mother. Also to identify the psychological and social adjustment levels for Motherless Students in the light of variable "Gender" (male / female) and variable "Type of loss" (death / divorce) and variable "Duration of loss" and finally variable "Compensator for the mother".
The study consisted of all Motherless Students in cycle two schools in the province of AL Batinah North. 160 students, including 86 male students and 74 female students. The researcher used a Psychological and Social Adjustment Scale and a correlational descriptive analytical method for the analysis of data. The study resulted in the following findings:
- The level of adjustment within the subjects' sample in the psychological field is moderate in every item of this field.
- No statistical significant differences between male and female scores in the psychological adjustment field.
- No statistical significant differences between subjects' sample (males and females) in the four fields of psychological and social adjustment (Psychological / Social / Cognitive and Physical), is due to variable "Gender".
- No statistical significant differences between subjects' sample is due to variable "Nature of Loss" (Death/Divorce). No statistical significant differences between subjects' sample in each of the four fields of psychological and social Adjustment scale, and the whole fields individually, is due to variable "Period of Loss", except for the social field that shown a statistical significance in variable "Period of Loss less than one year". No statistical significant differences in the level of psychological and social Adjustment between the subjects' sample is due to variable "Mother Compensator"
