English abstract
This study aimed to reveal the relation between conflict of roles and the mental health of working mothers in the educational sector in the Governorate of south Al-Batinah. The study sample consisted of 402 working mothers from the Governorate. The researcher has used the descriptive descriptive method, the scale of conflict of roles by Fatimah Mohammad Ahmed (1983), which was Arabized and legalized by D. Mohammed Salamah Adam (1980), and the scale of mental health by Ibtisam Ahmed AbulOmarain (2008).
The study has find out many results, the most important of which is that: Working mothers feel exhausted by housework because of their husbands' believe that helping wives in house work is disrespect for them. They also feel depressed because of making effort in raising children as their hus bands believe that teaching and helping children is mothers' job. This leads mothers to feel angry at home due to tiredness and work circumstances, which affect their life negatively.
Working mothers feel happy with high level of mental health and psychological compatibility as they work outside the house, which gives a positive self impression and feel satisfied with others (social mental health). They also do not fear being alone which shows high level of social consciousness and awareness for their role. They prefer cooperating with others instead of arguing with work colleagues, which shows a high level of professional compatibility that goes under social compatibility.
There are statistically significant differences went for teacher mothers in the
levels of conflict of roles among working mothers in the (job) variable in the dimension (care of children) goes for working mothers.
No statistically significant differences in dimensions of (housework, relationship with husband and relationship with self). No statistically significant differences in the levels of conflict of roles among working mothers in the variable of (mother age).
- No differences in mental health levels of working mothers in the educational sector because of (job - mother age). There are statistically significant differences in the levels of mental health
among working mothers in the variable of scientific qualification) in the (personal and professional) dimensions.
No statistically significant differences in the (social) dimension. The differences in the dimension between the categories of (diploma, master and bachelor) goes for the highest qualification. There is a positive relation between conflict of roles and mental health among working mothers.
