The main objectives of initiating Geoparks in Oman are emphasized as a basis for enhancing the promotion of geological heritage through the geological heritage initiative, the use of geological sites in educating the broad public at large and teaching and research in geological sciences and in environmental matters, their potential as a tool to ensure sustainable development, the conservation of the geological heritage for future generations and to serve the sustainable socio-economic development Oman by providing supplementary income for the local population. Consequently, the Geopark project will play an essential role to toward conserving Oman's geological asset by promoting its importance as well as establishing sustainable management practices among the broad public and decision makers in Oman This is a feasibility study for sustainable development of geoparks, feasibility report, September 2019.
