This study is titled " The Opposite Jurisprudential Opinions of Imam
Nor-a-Deen A-Salmi (Died in 1332H - 1914CE) in the Sections of A Tahara, Purity, and A-Salah, prayer: Discussion and Analysis". It is
done by Shamis bin Musallam bin Almur Al-Hamrashdi.
The aim of this study is to show the issues where Imam A-Salmi
opted for opposite jurisprudential opinions within his books. The
study also reveals the reasons behind the change of his opinions
through exploring the following questions:
1- what issues did Imam A-Salmi have two opposite opinions in in
relation to purity and prayer?
2-what reasoning and evidence did Imam A-Salmi use in those
issues? And how did he justify his choice?
3- Why did he change his opinions about the matter?
To answer these questions, the researcher has used the inductive
approach to trace the issues in the various books of Imam A-Salmi
as well as the analytical method to examine the evidence of each
issue, know the reasons behind the Imam's different opinions, and
mention the chosen opinion of the researcher.
This study consists of an interface to introduce Imam A-Salmi and
two sections. The first is on purity containing four divisions, and the
second is on prayer containing four divisions.
Among the conclusions of this study, there are 19 issues which
Imam A-Salmi had two different opinions in. What drove Imam A Salmi to this difference were the existence and the interpretation of
evidence, the understanding of the opposite instances of evidence,
and the application of the fundamental rules such as the meanings
of the general statements and negative commands.
At the end, the researcher recommends that other researchers
should trace the opinions of Imam A-Salmi throughout his various
books to know his final opinions.
