The study at hand aimed to determine the amount of child rights included in the social studies textbooks of classes' three to six in the basic education stage in Oman. To answer the study questions, the researcher prepared a list of child rights that should be included in these textbooks. The list was derived from previous studies that dealt with human rights, child rights and the objectives of the social studies course in both cycles of the basic education stage. The list was examined for validity by a number of specialists in the field. The final version that included 36 items distributed into six domains: economic, social, cultural, civilian, family and political rights. In the light of this list, the researcher analyzed the content of the social studies textbooks of classes 3-6 in order to come out with the direct and indirect rights implemented in them. As for the sake of the credibility of this analysis, the researcher sought the help of another to analyze a randomly selected sample making up 55.8% of the total study sample. The agreement percentage average between the researcher and the analyzer was around 81%. The study concluded with a number of results the important of which are: Finalizing a list of child rights that should be included in social studies textbooks of the basic education stage. The child rights in fact have not been equally distributed in the four textbooks, since the frequencies of the rights in the textbooks from 3-6 were 380, 310, 138 and 167 respectively. More concern was given to the economic, social, cultural and civilian rights where there is less concern given to the family and political rights of the child in terms of frequencies and implementation percentage in all textbooks. According to these results, the study has come out with a number of recommendations and suggestions for improving the quality of child rights in the social studies textbooks in the Sultanate of Oman.
