The present study aimed to evaluate the activities of reading lessons in the Arabic language textbook for the ninth grade in the Sultanate of Oman in the light of creative reading skills. This is done through answering the following questions: Q1: What are the creative reading skills that should be taken into account in activities of reading lessons in the Arabic language textbook for the ninth grade in the Sultanate of Oman?
Q2: To what extent do the creative reading skills in reading lessons activities language textbook for the ninth grade in the Sultanate of Oman?
To answer these questions, the researcher used the descriptive analytical method as it is relevant to the nature of the questions and objectives of the study. The researcher has designed the following:
1. A list of creative reading skills: That should be taken into account in the activities of reading
lessons in the Arabic language textbook for the ninth grade. These were validated by jury members.
2. Content analysis card: This derived from the aforementioned creative reading skills. Tool stability and reliability were measured by using the coefficient of agreement between the researcher and another analyst through Cooper Equation where the percentage of agreement was "0.89". The following results were obtained from the study: 1. A list of creative reading skills which are included "26" şub-skills divided into "4" main skills: Fluency, Flexibility, Originality and Elaboration. 2. The number of the creative reading activities in the Arabic language textbook is "291" out of "373" activities, representing "78,02%" of the total reading activities. The results showed that the fluency skill had the highest percentage "60,48%", followed by the flexibility skill "25,09%", followed by the elaboration skill "8,25%" and finally the skill of originality was "6,19%.". In light of these findings, the researcher recommended the following:
Guiding the authors of the Arabic language textbooks to take into account the skills of creative reading to achieve balance and comprehension when building the activities of reading lessons; increasing the number of activities included in the reading lessons in the Arabic language textbook that develops creative reading skills, especially originality skills and elaboration skills and including the teacher's guide some information about how to develop creative reading among the students. The researcher also provided a set of suggestions for further researches.
