The study at hand aimed at investigating the levels of job satisfaction
among the social workers at the state-funded schools in Al-Batinah North
Governorate, concentrating on the satisfaction with their relations with boss
and coworkers and with the nature of work, salary, incentives, and
increments. Another objective of this study is to identify the impact of
gender, marital status, specialty, and years of experience on the level of job
satisfaction. The study was of a descriptive design. The primary data were
collected via a questionnaire and a total survey of a population of 213 social
workers. Suitable statistical techniques were used in the analysis of findings.
As to the findings, the impact of social workers' relations with their
boss and coworkers and the nature of work on job satisfaction was high. As
to job satisfaction also, the impact of salary was low, whereas the impacts of
incentives and increments were of a medium level. The findings showed no
statistically significant differences, which could be attributed to the impact
of gender on the levels of job satisfaction with the nature of work, incentives,
and increments. However, statistically significant differences were found as
to the relations with boss and coworkers and the salary, in favor of females.
In addition, no statistically significant differences attributable to the years of
experience were revealed, an observation that was in favor of those with
experience of 10-20 or more than 20 years.
The study offered some suggestions, which include the following:
appointing more than one social worker in the schools with high student
population, reinforcing the social workers' efforts through increments and
incentives, and providing a financial line item in the school budget to help
the social workers efficiently accomplish their jobs.
