The study aimed to reveal the effectiveness of a proposed enrichment
program for Islamic education curricula for grades (10-12) in light of the dimensions
of community security in enhancing security awareness and social responsibility
among grade (10) students and their attitudes towards it. The researcher used the
analytical method; To analyze the Islamic education curricula in grades (10-12) to
identify the availability of social security dimensions in them. The quasi-experimental
approach was also used by designing two groups: experimental and control, and a
pre- and post- measurement. The study sample consisted of (121) students from
the grade (10) students, were selected by cluster random method from four different
schools in the Wilayat of Shinas in the Sultanate of Oman, where a division was
selected from each school, and they were distributed to the two groups, with two
divisions for each group. The researcher made sure that the two groups are equal
in the level of academic achievement, as well as in the level Security awareness
and social responsibility.
For the purpose of achieving the objectives of the study, the researcher
prepared a list of the dimensions of community security and the indicators of their
achievement that must be available in Islamic education curricula in grades (10-12)
in the Sultanate of Oman. Then, he judged them; To ensure its validity and suitability
for students of grades (10-12) and their curricula. After that, he transferred it to a
content analysis card: to analyze the content of (10-12) Islamic education books. Its
validity and suitability for the analysis process were confirmed. As well, its
effectiveness and stability in the analysis were confirmed using the multi-analyst
method, and an equation Holisti. Moreover, the researcher prepared three
measures: the measure of the level of security awareness, the measure of the level
of social responsibility, and the measure of students' attitudes about the enrichment
program. In addition, their validity for the implementation was confirmed by ensuring
its apparent sincerity by the arbitrators and calculating its stability using Cronbach's
alpha equation.
In light of the results of the analysis of Islamic education curricula in grades
(10-12), the researcher prepared the proposed enrichment program. It contained six
units; each unit contains four lessons. The units were distributed around the
dimensions of community security that the researcher had previously reached,
where prepared in a guide for students and a guide for teachers. The program was
reviewed by some arbitrators to ensure its validity and suitability to achieve its
objectives in enhancing the level of security awareness and the level of social
responsibility among students.
The enrichment program was taught to the students of the experimental
group, while the scale of security awareness and the scale of social responsibility
were applied to the students of two groups (experimental and control) before and
after implementation. After that, the researcher processed the data using the
Statistical Analysis Program in Social Sciences (SPSS). The results of the study
showed following:
The level of availability of social security dimensions in Islamic education
curricula for grades (10-12) in the Sultanate of Oman was about 41%, where the
number of its recurrences did not exceed (877). Grade (10) curriculum was the
highest in the level of availability of social security dimensions, with (354)
recurrences, then grade (11) curriculum with (333) recurrences, and after them
grade (12) with (190) recurrence. The most frequent dimensions of community
security in Islamic education curricula for grades (10-12) were the dimension of
religious security with (143) recurrences, followed by the dimension of social
security with (141) recurrence. While the dimension of environmental security
ranked last among the dimensions of community security in terms of availability in
Islamic education curricula for grades (10-12); Where the number of recurrences in
it reached (8) recurrences, and before it, the technical security dimension with only
(13) recurrences.
Regarding the implementation of the enrichment program and its
effectiveness, the results showed that there were statistically significant differences
at the level (α ≤ 0.05) between the average responses of the students of the
experimental and control groups in the post implementation of the security
awareness scale, as well as in the scale of social responsibility, all of which were in
favor of the experimental group (which studied the proposed enrichment program).
Also, the results showed that there were statistically significant differences at the
level (α ≤ 0.05) between the average responses of the experimental group students
in the pre and post implementation of the security awareness scale, as well as with
the social responsibility scale, all of which came in favor of the post implementation
of the scales. That results Confirm the effectiveness of the proposed enrichment
program in enhancing security awareness and social responsibility among students.
Regarding the measure of students' attitudes towards the proposed
enrichment program, the arithmetic mean of their attitudes was very high, it reached
(4.48), which indicates that students' attitudes towards the enrichment program are
high, and the program contributes to a high level in enriching them in community
security. It also enhances their security awareness and a sense of social
responsibility in its various fields.
Based on the previous results, the study recommended several
recommendations, the most important of which are: continuous analysis and follow up of Islamic education curricula; To development and enrichment it in light of local
and global changes and events. Developing a conceptual map related to the
dimensions of community security. Inclusion in educational curricula and activities
in the different stages of education the values of community security and social
responsibility in proportion to the educational stage. Establishing a special section
in the Ministry of Education called "community Security Strengthening Department,"
and another section called "Social Responsibility Strengthening Department,"
affiliated to the "citizenship" department. Adopting the proposed enrichment
program and circulating it to be taught to all grade (10) students in the Sultanate of
Oman.
