the authority in Oman. And its reliance on investigative and analytical
approach. The period of study and the analytical approach is concerned
with analyzing information from sources and documents for the time of
that period.
The study was divided into an introductory chapter, four chapters,
and a conclusion. The introductory chapter dealt with scholars and
authority in Ibadi political theory. As for the first chapter, it was devoted
to discussing the form of the authority, its manifestations, and its political
and social effects. The second chapter dealt with the political opinions and
ideas of scientists, their position on regional and foreign interference, and
the sultans' attempts to get closer to the scholars and the purpose of that
convergence. While the third chapter focused on the political revolutions
that appeared against the sultans and the role of scholars in them. As for
the fourth and final chapter, he discussed the relationship of scholars with
the two imams, Ahmed bin Saeed (T: 1198 AH / 1783 CE) and Azzan bin
Qais (T: 1287 AH / 1871 CE). Based on what the study dealt with in its four
chapters, it came up with several results, the most important of which are:
The level of the political relationship between scholars and the authority
was affected by two aspects, namely: First: the absence of a clear
mechanism for the transfer of power. Second: family conflict. The study
indicated that the scientists' opposition to the authority was not a military
opposition in all its cases, but rather they used peaceful means, and they
sought to criticize the manifestations of injustice and the absence of
justice, and wrote for this purpose messages and biographies aimed at
directing the attention of the authority to the deficiencies. The study
highlighted the position of the scholars on regional and foreign
interference, and while it was a position, it was dominated by the
epistemological and theoretical nature, but it contributed to educating
people about the dangers of these interventions.
