The study aimed to identify the adaptation of students with disabilities to
university life at Sultan Qaboos University. I investigated the factors affecting
their adaptation, the services and facilities provided by the university to students
with disabilities, and their requirements for adaptation within the university.
The study followed the descriptive analytical research design which was applied
in a comprehensive social survey method. The instruments of the study were
the questionnaire which they administered to (53) male and female students
with disabilities studying at Sultan Qaboos University.
The study found that the services provided by the Deanship of Student
Affairs (Department of Students with Disabilities) were at high-level. It also
found that the impact of personal factors affecting the adaptation of students
with disabilities was very weak. Additionally, it found that the most important
requirements were academic and administrative requirements among which
were offering more majors for students with disabilities and providing them
with more devices and modern technologies.
They study concluded with some scientific suggestions to enhance the
adaptation of students with disabilities at Sultan Qaboos University.
