The objective of this study is to identify the role of the school director in the professional development of teachers from the viewpoint of teachers, and the knowledge of the actual performance in accordance with the views of the study sample.
Study's community consisted of female school teachers from all schools of basic education (1-4) of the Ministry of Education, in the Interior region, where the total number is (1237) teacher in the school year 2007/2008. The study's sample was chosen in a random manner, consisting of (392) teacher. To achieve the objectives of the study, the researcher also used a questionnaire consisting of 50 sections, targeting five main fields. The study has used the pilot descriptive analytical approach. To answer the study questions, the study used the arithmetic averages and analysis of single variance (One Way Anova), and the method of (LSD) to determine the direction of the differences of the variables of the study (qualifications and years of experience).
The study found the following results:
-The number of the school principals exercising their roles in the professional development for teachers is high, according to the views of a large sample
study.
- The presence of statistically significant differences was attributable to the impact of qualifications on the degree of exercise of the school director for professional development for teachers in the following areas: cognitive
development for teachers, and the development of human relations. The differences results came out for the benefit of members of the study sample with a qualified average diploma

The differences results came out for the benefit of members of the experienced study sample (11 years experience and above).
