This study aims to track the forms of historical communication and
stages of development of political ties between Oman and Persia from
emergence of Islam to the end of 7th Century of Hegira, and to explore
the political, economic, social and cultural effects of Omani-Persian ties
during the period of the study.
The researcher adopted in the study the historical, descriptive
analytical and comparative methodology by collecting the information
related to the topic from various resources and studies, and tried to
review the original and Arabized Persian bibliography in particular, and
to use other supporting bibliography such as monumental found items
and monetized coins, and to analyze the various events generated by
cultural ties and influences between Oman and Persia.
The study is divided into: Introduction, background, three chapters
and conclusion. Background handles geography of Oman and Persia
location, and historical roots of ties between them before Islam. Chapter
one traces the phases of development of political ties between Oman
and Persia. It reviews entry of Islam to Oman and Persia and Islamic
conquest of Persia as well as Omanis' contribution to conquests.
Chapter two focused on demonstrating the trade ties between Oman
and Persia, by highlighting the trading role of ports and means of
commercial transaction. It also addressed maritime trade that linked the
two regions, and vessel industry and types and market types.
Chapter three revealed social and cultural influences of relations
between Oman and Persia. Social influences included immigrations
between Oman and Persia and traditions and customs. In the cultural
side it handled practical life and urban effects. Conclusion included the
key results that were found by the study, primarily: Existence of cultural
communication that extends over history and was nurtured by strategic
neighborhood of the outstanding location of Oman and Persia, which
enhanced the mutual influence between both regions.
