The study aimed to identify the level of the meaning in life and
self-esteem and the relationship between them among retired civil
servants in the Governorate of Muscat, in light of a number of variables,
they are the meaning in life, self-esteem, and demographic variables
(gender, type of retirement, pension, retirement year).
The measures were distributed among a sample of 388 and 263
retirees, who were selected using the available sample method, which
are non-probability and not random samples
The results of this study showed a very high level of the meaning
in life for retired civil servants in the Governorate of Muscat, where the
dimension of beliefs and values came in the first place with a very high
average, and in the second place the dimension of action and work
come with a high average, while the dimension of suffering came with a
low average, where it was noted that the level of The meaning in life in
the distance was low.
The results of the study showed that there is a statistically
significant correlation between the sense of meaning in life and self esteem of retirees. It should be noted that it is a strong and positive
relationship
- It also showed that there is an effect of the level of sense in life
on the self-esteem of retired from the civil service, statistically
significant, and that the level of the meaning in life positively affects self esteem, that is, the higher the level of the meaning in life, the higher the
self-esteem of retired from the civil service.
The results of the study showed that there were no statistically significant
differences in the level of meaning in life and self-esteem among retired
civil servants in the Governorate of Muscat due to each of the gender
variable (male, female), retirement type variable, salary variable as well
as to the retirement year variable (2016 AD or less or 2017 AD and
above) in all dimensions and scales.
