This study aimed to identify the relationship between the status of identity and psychological security among the twelfth-grade students in the Sultanate of Oman, and to identify the levels of each the status of identity and psychological security for them, as well as to reveal the differences in the levels of these variables among the study sample according to the gender variable. It was applied to a random sample of 821 male and female students from the twelfth grade in the governorates of Muscat and North Al Batinah, where the Adams and Benon Identity Status Scale (1986) and the Psychological Security Scale prepared by Shukair (2005) were applied to them, along with a t-test for two independent samples, multiple linear regression analysis, and several descriptive statistics.
The study produced several results, the most important of which are that the level of identity status is above average among the twelfth-grade students in the Sultanate of Oman by 69.7%, and the level of psychological security is also average for the study sample by 73.8%. The results of the study also showed a positive statistically significant relationship between the status of identity and psychological security. And that there are differences in the level of identity status and psychological security among twelfth grade students in favor of male students, and that psychological security can be predicted through all identity status except for identity achievement. Based on the results of the study, the researcher made a set of recommendations, and suggested conducting more studies on identity status and psychological security and their relationships with other variables such as anxiety.
